Rushmore Honors St. Louis History at the Original Bissinger's Location

At Rushmore Boutique, we are proud to call the original St. Louis location of the local candy staple - Bissinger’s Chocolatier - our new home! Known for blending timelessness with modern style, Rushmore is excited to honor this timeless company and its long line of St. Louis history.

As a nod to this location’s legacy, we are offering a small assortment of Bissinger’s fine chocolates. This thoughtful addition not only pays homage to the iconic chocolatier but also provides a sweet treat and gifting opportunity for our shoppers.

The Bissinger family began making their chocolate delicacies in 17th-century France, where their treats were enjoyed by the likes of the King of France and other European nobility. In 1845, Karl Bissinger brought his master candy maker and family recipes from France to the United States, establishing the first Bissinger's kitchen near Cincinnati. In 1927, his son, also Karl, continued the tradition by opening a kitchen in St. Louis, where it remained for 80 long years in the very location where Rushmore Boutique and Past The Past Coffee and Vintage reside today. The company continues to be based in St Louis but now owned by another St. Louis based company, Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company.

The combination of Rushmore’s sophisticated styling expertise and Bissinger’s storied confections creates a perfect blend of fashion and tradition. You can admire the brass gilded "B" in the terrazzo entryway as you step into our new space to explore beautifully curated clothing collections, receive personalized styling, and indulge in a little taste of St. Louis history.
