My Summer Shoe Must Haves

It’s probably no surprise that most of my wardrobe comes from Rushmore. However, that doesn’t stop me from indulging in a little shopping for items we don’t carry in store. As the seasons change, one of the easiest ways to transition my wardrobe is through my footwear. Here’s a peek at what I’ve purchased so far and what’s currently sitting in my cart, just waiting for the funds.

Milano Big Buckle in Patent High Shine Black

Birkenstock

As someone with higher arches, I’m always on the hunt for comfortable shoes to wear between heels. I’ve owned several pairs of Birkenstocks, from the all-rubber Eva to the leather Gizeh. Every time, they’ve become my summer go-to. This summer, I opted for something a bit more stylish and elevated. The Big Buckle collection delivers that classic Birk look without the “Jesus sandal” vibes. The footbed in this style isn’t suede, so they don’t retain that permanent footprint, keeping them looking cleaner for longer. The inner leather is soft, requiring zero break-in time.

Connie Mary Jane Slingback Flat

Naturalizer

Naturalizer makes fantastic shoes! As someone constantly on the move, I love that they’re both comfortable and on-trend. Gone are the days of only offering granny styles. The slingback is, in my opinion, the shoe of the year, and this one is perfect for summer. A mesh flat would also be a nice option—sometimes you just need to cover up that peeling nail polish for one more day. The open back keeps them from feeling too heavy for summer, yet they’ll still get plenty of wear into the fall months.

27 Edit Naomi 2 Sandal

Naturalizer

Okay, this one is a little wild for me, but I fell in love with the colorway on this sandal! With 20% off on top of the sale price, it was a no-brainer. Hot tip: never buy a flat shoe from a company that doesn’t care about your feet. If you’re opting for a flat sandal, make it a quality one.

Thong Kitten Heels

Anthropologie

I adore a thong sandal in the summer, but they’re often flat. This one is perfect! Pair it with jeans or a dress, and I’m sold. I chose brown because so many of my sandals are black, but this would look incredibly sleek in black as well.

Hennie Sandal

Vagabond

Vagabond Shoemakers create amazing shoes, period. They’re stylish and a bit edgier than most brands without being over-the-top. If you’re looking for something strappy with a touch more stability, this is your answer. I love the nod this style gives to the ’90s, and the white with black sole means they’ll pair perfectly with my new black bucket bag.

Indiana in Brown

Alohas

I’m obsessed with this shoe! The tortoise heel paired with the texture of the suede is everything! I don’t need another pair in this style (I already have so many), but it’s in my cart anyway. If you're looking for something to elevate your sundresses without being too much for day-to-day wear, this is a great choice. Anything in this shape is a must-have. It looks fantastic with dresses, but you can also pair it with wide-leg soft pants or denim. The ones I already have are tried-and-true staples I’ve had for years. This heel never goes out of style.
