This recipe goes back to my childhood. My family would host a Halloween party practically every weekend through the month of October - sometimes well into November. My childhood friend's mom would bring this cider recipe to the bonfire where we, as kids, would get amped up on sugar and run wild.
Now that I'm an adult, I add whisky. It's just better that way.
Ingredients
-
2 cup Water
-
2/3 cup brown sugar
-
2 cinnamon sticks
-
12 dried cloves (or 20, whatever you like)
-
3 qt. Apple Juice
-
2 qt. Cranberry juice (cranberry juice cocktail for a sweeter recipe)
Instructions
Mix the first 4 ingredients together in a pot on the stove until it boils. Let boil for 5 min.
Then strain the spices, adding the liquid to a large soup pot. Pour in the apple juice and cranberry juice. Heat and serve.
I use a little less than one shot of whisky to mug of cider ratio.
